Oru Nka comes from a place of strength, courage, and ambition. The story behind its conception is what makes it a movement and not just another place you shop. The African term Oru Nka beautifully translates to “A Work of Art.” We feel that Oru Nka is a way of looking at yourself and others, it’s a feeling that you are a beautiful creation. But our story runs beyond that.

Throughout my life, the world gave me labels and tried to put me in boxes. I realized that I perhaps grew up in a society that wasn’t very accepting of body types that fell outside the realm of their definition of “beautiful.” Added to this was the constant disappointment of not finding clothes that I could love or my size for the ones that I did. Being an artistic and creative person, I wanted my appearance to be a reflection of that. Little by little the pent-up desires formed my treasure chest, which has now opened up into this very brand- Oru Nka.
My family, in the meantime, had filled my life with the beauty of nature. I’ve always had a strong connection and knew from a young age to do my bit to help conserve the environment. This helped me create a range of sustainable products.
We know and understand that each one of us is different in beautiful ways, but above that, we know that each of us is a masterpiece of our own kind. And that is how we translate Oru Nka as a brand.
And so with the blessing of mother nature, Oru Nka became a friend to the ones who can’t find a comfortable fit, Oru Nka is a boost to those who want to be confident in their own skin, Oru Nka is your solace, and your sanctuary. Oru Nka is a celebration of difference. It is a brand that knows no skin tones or body types, it only knows how to instill confidence into its wearer and give them the edge that they are looking for. Oru Nka reminds you of the piece of art that you are!
